My life's journey has been filled with a wonderful variety of experiences including; 4 years studying at Berklee College of Music; playing well over a thousand professional gigs in numerous bands and as a solo artist; stints as a studio musician, studio owner/producer and live sound engineer; working retail in a couple of music stores, and giving private lessons. All of these were wonderful teachers about the nuts & bolts of the commercial music business but......
At some point I began to burn out physically and emotionally, which led to a profound realization regarding my life's purpose. I had dedicated my whole life towards the goal of becoming a "successful" professional musician, but one day realized that music had become more like work and a j-o-b and was no longer fun, creative or inspiring in the ways that originally called me to it. I made a decision to stop using music as my means to make a living, and instead began to explore the deeper spiritual/creative musical experiences that had drawn me to this path in the beginning. I began exploring types of music where sound itself became a meditative trance-inducing vehicle which quickly and consistently put me in "The Zone", that space where one loses all sense of ego-self and linear time. I began to understand how certain sound and forms of music put me in a state of deep relaxation/meditation and trance. Around this same time I also purchased my first large gong, and was immediately struck by the same meditative and trance inducing quality I experienced whenever I played it. I was hooked and have been ever since.
Fast forward to the present, and I consider myself fortunate to be involved in the vibrant spiritual, musical and yoga communities which offer so many opportunities for me to share the experience of being in "The Zone" with others through "Sacred Sound and Living". Whether it be through facilitating individual or group workshops, events, or experiences, with music, sound, or coaching/counseling, each form of spiritual practice and creative expression helps people relax, open up, recreate and reconnect in a place of peace, authenticity and oneness which is mystical, magical and a blessing to be a part of.
We are all artists on the deepest level. We carry within us the capacity to bring dignity, purposefulness, and the presence of The Artist to our daily work. Like art, work holds up a mirror to life, reflecting our creator-selves, our strengths and flaws, skill and resolve. The melding of creator and creation is the artistry of work, and our true purpose for being alive on this Earth. We are the hearts, minds and hands of the Great Creator. Take time to pause, to listen, to hear, to recognize and appreciate the Divine Presence in each and every moment, and to value yourself as the Artist of Creation that you are.
